Speech

I took Ethan to his speech evaluation today.  I've thought that he was delayed for a long time.  Finally, he turned three and I could start the process through child find.  I filled the paper work out in January, and today we finally had our evaluation.

Ethan will qualify for speech services through the school system.  I'm not sure how things will work out with transportation.  Since, my job obviously conflicts with the school hours.  But, maybe there will be some way that we can work that out.  It'll be fine for this year, b/c I'll be on maternity leave but come August, we'll have to figure something out.
I'm just glad that we finally will be able to get him some help.  Those darn ear infections, nothing but trouble!

A wonderful gift

I came home to find a surprise in the mail today.  It was from my sister in law, Bianca.  She made the most wonderful gifts for Owen.  I was so excited to see all the adorable little bundles that she made for us! She is so talented!
Little shoes for Owen.  Can we just say awww......
A little blankie for Owen!  Look how adorable it is! It's super soft and the ribbons are a great textural touch!
Zippered pouches and some burp clothes.  The burp clothes are so thick and nice.  I know they are the best quality ones that we now own.  The zippered pouches will work out wonderful in my diaper bag! I can't wait to try everything out!
A pouch to hold a few diapers and a case of wipes.  I can just see how this is going to help me stay organized in my diaper bag.  I can't wait to get everything set up.
Of course, she thought to include Ethan and he got his own "present".  He loves the pouch and the candy!! I'm excited to put some little Ethan toys in here, to keep in the diaper bag also.
Thank you so much Bianca! Everything is simply adorable and we love everything.  We love you guys!

My kid did it....

He colored on the wall.

Here's what happened.
We got Ethan an art easel for his birthday.  (you can see it in his room on the big boy room post) Well, it has a dry erase board and dry erase markers.  We have talked to him about only coloring on his board and he's always been so good about that.
Well, I go downstairs to make lunches b/c I decided that I'd take him to the zoo.  You know b/c it was a wonderful day outside and I was feeling better.  I'm making lunches and I hear... "psst psst... momma.... come here and see".  There is my little boy looking over the stair way at me.  I ask him what he's doing and I see it....
Yeah, his arm is completely red.  My mouth falls open and I just say "Ethan what did you do?"  I guess he could tell that my voice wasn't happy, or maybe it was my expression b/c he says "no it's fine momma."  Yeah right it's fine.  I look at his arms and he's colored wonderful red circles all over them.  ( I should have taken a picture but I was to upset)
I take him back upstairs to wash him off, and it occurs to me.. "Ethan did you color anywhere else?"  "Yes".  Hmm......
So I go into his room and yep on the nice white trim that Dan just painted are red circles.  Four of them.  Why red?  That has to be the hardest color to get off.  I just looked at him in shock and pointed to the corner.  He knows what that means.  He knows time out quite well.  He goes over there and sits and starts to cry.  I'm upset, and scrubbing the walls.  Yeah it won't come off.  Then he points to his race car toy and says "I color that".  Yep, all over his toy also.  Not that I really care about that, and of course that just wiped off with a paper towel.
So I take his markers up and put them away in my room and tell him he'll have to earn them back.  That brought on more tears.  We had a nice long talk about where we color and where we don't.  This brought the smiles back and he then got to call Daddy to tell him what he did.  Dan of course laughed and that made me laugh.  I think I was able to hide it from Ethan though.
So we shall see if he has really learned his lesson.  I just can't understand what on earth he was thinking.  Oh, yeah he was thinking like a three year old.  That's perfectly normal.  Oh, and Mom I vaguely remember coloring on the wall behind my bedroom door in Iowa.  I'm sorry about that! I know how it feels, now.  Looks like Dan will get to paint some trim again.

Doctor's apt. today

So I had my doctor's apt. today.  I'm now 35 weeks pregnant.  They did an ultrasound to check on Owen's size, b/c of my gestational diabetes.  Well, little Owen weighed in at 6 pounds 10 oz!  WOOZER!!!!  LOL

The doctor thinks that's pretty accurate.  He said based on the size of Ethan when he was born (a week early at 8 pounds 4 oz) that this one might be a tad larger b/c of the GD.  He said it would be nothing that I couldn't handle, probably a baby around Ethan's size.
Anyway, so he set up an induction date for April 14th.  That's if he hasn't come by then.  So looks like April 14th we will have a baby!! I don't want him to come any earlier.  I'm not ready.  I still have to make lesson plans for when I'm out at work.  I haven't even started that yet.  Ekkk!!  Plus, I wanted to get Ethan out of the toddler bed and into a twin bed before Owen arrives, but we still have to sand it down and everything.  Oh, well we shall see if it gets done.
Oh, and he said my blood sugar levels were exceptional.  That was his word, exceptional! LOL  Just had to brag!  I guess this diet is doing what it's supposed to, but I am getting tired of it.
I have been averaging about 4/5 contractions a day.  Just small ones, so who knows maybe they are doing something down there.

The zoo

So we went to the zoo yesterday.  It was a nice day and Ethan has been asking to go for a while.  We had a lot of fun and spent over 2 hours there.  I think that I over did it though, b/c today I'm just exhausted.  A lot of walking and I was sore last night.
This Elephant was doing tricks. We'd never seen that before, and we go to the zoo all the time!
Ethan LOVED the otters!  He thought they were so much fun.  He was very cute laughing and running next to them.

Baby shower

My church threw me a baby shower.  I was surprised as I didn't expect one with this being our second boy.  We do need stuff, like clothes b/c all Ethan's little stuff is winter.  So we really appreciated it.  It was fun.  Many church members came, my SIL April, and my good friend Linnie.
Mom and I.  I was tired.  Do I look it?  It had been a long weekend.  Ethan had been sick and we had Oma in town.  A lot was going on this weekend.

Opening presents
Linnie got this for me.  Isn't it adorable?  I love it.  She also got me a onesie and burp cloth with his name on it.  So adorable!

Oma came to visit

Oma came to visit last weekend.  She didn't catch Ethan at his best.  She arrived on Thursday and Dan took Ethan to get his ears rechecked.  ( you know from his ear infection)  They were fine.  We went to the bounce house for a Dogwood event and when we left Ethan told me his ear hurt.  Yep, that night he was running a high fever and had the croup.  So Dan and Oma took him back to the doctor on Friday.  Yep, ear infection and the croup.  Poor baby.  So she got him sick and feeling bad.  I hated that.  We had some fun things planned but b/c he was so sick we just stayed home and played.  Bianca and family came up to play and the cousins did have a blast.  Of course Ethan missed out on some of the fun, b/c he had to take a nap.  Sick kids can't skip those.  But, it was a fun visit with Oma.  We really enjoyed having her over.
The kids enjoying some treats from Oma.

Ethan's big boy room

So finally pictures of Ethan's big boy room.  These are old.  I took them right when we moved him in.  We've done more to the room since then.  I'll have to take more pictures, but who knows how long that will take me.  We have pictures and stuff on the walls now and he has a new dresser on the wall by the art easel.  Oh, and on that top shelf we have pictures and such.  So it's not as bare.  It's really hard to get decent pictures of the room b/c it's rather small.  I need to take a video of him showing you guys around.  Yeah, maybe one day we'll get that done.  Anyway, he LOVES his room and really enjoys spending time in there playing.
