Brothers are funny

Owen thought Ethan was pretty funny last night.  We all got a good laugh out of Ethan making Owen laugh.  He had been laughing at Ethan for a good 10 minutes before it dawned on us to get a  video of it! So he was slowing down by this point, but it's still cute!

Beach 2009

We had a wonderful time at the beach this year.
Well, we always have a good time.  The trip
down was wonderful and before we knew it
we were breathing the ocean air.  It was great.
Ethan was very excited about the beach, he'd been
talking about going to catch crabs for days.
(he remembered this from the year before)
Ethan wasn't sure about the sand on his hands at first.
He hated being sandy and we kept telling him that
at the beach you are going to get sandy.
Eventually he relaxed a little but he still liked
to wash his hands.  He loved going in the water
and jumping over the waves.  We found
quite a few shells and he was thrilled with each one.
But, I think the highlight of the trip for Ethan was
crab hunting.  He was so excited to be out in the
dark looking for crabs.
Owen tolerated the beach.  He didn't like the water
on his toes, that made him cry.  He didn't seem to
like the bright light and on very windy days he
would cry.  But, he did love to go walking in the
evenings with us.  I think it was the cool weather,
the sound of the waves, and being carried.
I'm sad that our trip is over for another year, but am looking forward to next year to see Owen's reaction.

We made it home...

We spent the week at the beach with my family.  We had the best time... more on that later.  We left yesterday morning at 9:30m.  Kayla ( Eldon's fiance) left an hour before us, and was having some car trouble.

Things were going smoothly, we stopped and picked up lunch, we went potty, and I fed the baby.  A little while on the road Ethan says in a panic "I have to go pee!"  I ask him if he can hold it but he's back to watching his movie.  A mother knows things..... his little legs were dancing and every now and then he'd grab himself.  So I called Dan ( who was in the car behind us) to tell him we ere pulling over and he needed to jump out and grab Ethan.  At this time Ethan really starts yelling "I got to pee" while we were pulling over, and starts unbuckling his seat belt.
He made it and experienced his first time peeing on the side of the road.  I am glad I have boys, that would have been much harder with a girl.
About this time Eldon got a call from Kayla, she was stopped dead in traffic.  Fun.  A while later we got another call, her car had stopped on the road.  People helped her push her car off the road.  So we knew she was 6 miles away and to start looking or her car.  Then we hit it, the traffic.  An hour later we still hadn't gone 6 miles.  She got her car started again and was able to get off the exit.  We met up with her, found Uhaul and towed her car home.
What I didn't mention was the traffic, the horrible traffic.  Our 8 hour drive turned into a 13 hour drive.  We got home at 11:30 last night.  It was bad.  Thank goodness that I had my breast pump and was able to feed Owen that way.  My boys were wonderful.  They did get fussy.  Ethan's tummy did start to hurt at hour 12.  But they made it and we are home.
The beach was great by the way!

My kids are different...

You know that your kids are going to be different.  But, it's really interesting to see how different they really are.  You know babies are babies, right?  No.  Ethan was active.  He was such an active baby.  He would move all night long when I was pregnant.  He came out and moved all night long.  I swear Ethan never slept for the first 6 weeks of his life.

Owen was calm when I was pregnant.   There were times, that I'd sit really still for a while until he moved, because it occurred to me that I hadn't felt him move all day.  He came out and he's not very active.  He actually sleeps. He's such a good little sleeper.
Ethan never cried.  Really not for one shot, and I could probably count on one hand the times that he really cried.  Owen, he cries all the time.  He's my fussy baby.  Every night for a good hour we have crying.
They look different to me, everyone says that Owen looks just like Ethan but I don't see it.  I can't even see it in their baby pictures.

It's funny how different they can be.  I look forward to see them grow and change, and their differences and similarities bloom.

Tummy time...

He starts out happy....
Quickly gets mad....
He's starting to actually look around...
Can tolerate this for a few seconds....
Owen hates tummy time. He's getting a bit better about letting me put him on his stomach. He used to just lay there and scream.  He's getting so big, way to fast.  It's crazy how fast they grow.

Owen's Baptism

We are a family that has two religions.  It's hard at times.  We try our best to include both religions.  Maybe one day, one of us will join the others church but until then we are doing the best we can to have a "blended" church family.  We had Owen blessed in Dan's church, well it's also important to me to get my babies baptized.  So on July 5th we had Owen baptized.  It was a wonderful church service and we really enjoyed it.  Best yet, my fussy baby didn't cry!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!
We had a fun day.  I wasn't sure how Ethan would handle the fireworks.  He hates loud noises.  I took him to the movies the other day, and he held his ears the entire time.  (to be fair it was loud) But, fireworks are very loud, so I was sure he would spend the entire night inside.  I was right, most of the time he was inside, and would run out to see us then run back in.
We went to my parents house as we do every year.  It was fun, we played games, made ice cream, ate good food, and had plenty of fireworks.
Owen as a Lil' Fire Cracker!  This outfit was almost to small, okay so it was a bit snug, but he had to wear it! Ethan's first 4th of July outfits were 12 months. (yes he was only 6 months when he wore them)

Owen rolled from his tummy to his back today!  I missed it because I was in the shower. But Ethan and Dan were both impressed by his skills.
